Students Create Leaf Packs
Setting:
One Class Period
Materials
- Mesh Bags
- Dried Leaves
- Fishing Line
- Rocks
Procedure
- Students make their leaf packs in the lab, and take them to the stream. Leaf packs are secured to a rock using fishing line and submerged under water, where they will be checked periodically over a three week period.
- Students can complete the “Macroinvertebrates and Stream Ecology Webquest Worksheet” which they began on Day 2 of this Unit Plan.
