A film based on an article in The New Yorker by best-selling writer Jonathan Franzen, Emptying the Skies chronicles the annual decimation of migratory birds by hunters and poachers in southern Europe.
Trapped at “pinch points” near the Mediterranean, these songbirds are considered culinary delicacies and are sold on the black market.
The film follows an intrepid volunteer squad of bird-lovers who risk their lives trying to save these endangered creatures.
Following the screening there will be a Q&A with director Roger Kass.
