Search for Publications

Publications in scientific and educational literature represent the newest knowledge to which others have ready access, making them central to the exchange of information. As the building blocks for subsequent advances, publications represent an important return to society for the public investment in the enterprise of scientific research and education.

Scientific advances require the free and open exchange of ideas and results. The Institute communicates its scientific and educational information in a number of ways. One major outlet is peer-reviewed publications and reports. Institute staff regularly publish in the best-rated journals in their respective fields.

According to data collected by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI, the producers of Web of Science) we are one of the most highly cited institutions in the world for ecological research. We are in the TOP 5 institutions world wide (including major Universities) for the total number of citations and ranks 8th worldwide for citations per publication. This is a remarkable record considering our small size.

The searchable publications database archives the annual contributions by the scientific staff at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies since its inception in 1983. The archive includes books, papers, book reviews, reports, and theses. Those seeking paper reprints should direct their requests to the author whose name is listed first.
