Dear Camp Families:
It’s with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of our 2020 Eco-Discovery and Art+Science summer camps. Please know the decision was made with the health and safety of our campers, staff, and community in mind and with guidance from the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health.
Full refunds will be issued for all current registrations.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Immersing young people in ecology and outdoor discovery is a joy, and we look forward to the time when we can resume hands-on learning at our campus.
In the meantime, we are creating a new home-based EcoQuest badge program for camp aged children for this summer. Please let us know if your child might be interested in such an opportunity. We will follow up soon with details.
We will provide full refunds, including the $25 administrative fee and any credit card fees you may have covered as part of your registration. We will begin processing refunds on Tuesday, May 26th and plan to have them completed by May 29th. We have been told by the credit card processor that your refund should appear on your credit card statements in 5-10 business days.
Thank you to those of you who made donations to our scholarship fund. You were very generous to do so. We would very much appreciate if you would allow us to apply your gift to scholarships for future campers. Please send an email or call us to let us know if you would like us to keep the donation. We did not want to delay your refund so, if we have not heard from you by the time we process your refund, we will refund this gift. We hope you will consider going making a new donation. Leave a note in the text box to let us know if you would like this to go towards a camp scholarship.
Given the nature of the Covid-19 virus in our region, and the difficulty in assuring safety in our camp setting, we decided that cancelling was the most responsible decision at this point in time. We understand this is sad news and that everyone was very much looking forward to an in-person Cary camp.
We are developing exciting new opportunities for both Eco-Discovery and Art+Science campers for at-home ecology learning and fun exploration this summer. We took into account the valuable feedback you provided in the parent survey a few months ago, and are carefully designing these programs to be as interactive, fun, motivating, and social as possible. One of our goals is to limit screen time for campers and focus more heavily on outdoor experiences. We hope you will join us in this exciting venture, and we look forward to sharing more details with you soon.
