Heather Lynch, Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolution at Stony Brook University will describe how her lab merges satellite imagery, drones, and other cutting-edge technologies with traditional field work to study the distribution and abundance of penguins and other wildlife in Antarctica.
Lynch will discuss threats facing Antarctic penguins and how emerging applications of artificial intelligence and predictive modelling can guide policymakers in their efforts to protect one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses.
