Watershed Bird Walk

Sunday, May 19, 2013 - 8:00am

Ken Schmidt with a Cedar Waxwing.

Explore bird life in the Wappinger Creek watershed with Ken Schmidt. For several field seasons, Schmidt has led a research team investigating how songbirds use environmental cues to manage their daily activities, particularly avoiding predators, selecting habitats, and breeding decisions. He will provide visitors with insight into resident and migratory birds, their behavior, and the science of soundscapes.

Ken Schmidt is a visiting scientist at the Cary Institute and an avian behavioral ecologist from Texas Tech University.

Wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes, and bring drinking water and binoculars. This program will meet in the main campus parking lot.
