The Library supports the Institute’s scientific research and programs.
We provide access to nearly 2,000 journals and e-journals, more than 10,000 books and e-books, and state-of-the-art databases that support research in ecology and the environmental sciences. Databases include Web of Science, Elsevier ScienceDirect, Springer, BioOne, JSTOR and more.
The Archive documents our institutional history, which overlaps with our town and local history.
The Cary Institute Library is proud to announce its collaboration with Hudson River Valley Heritage (HRVH) and Southeastern New York Library Resources Council (SENYLRC) on a digital collection of our historical newsletters. These newsletters chronicle the history of the Cary Institute, including our inception as the Cary Arboretum of the New York Botanical Garden and establishment of the Institute of Ecosystem Studies (IES).
The Cary Institute Library and Archive are open to the public by appointment. Please contact: Amy Schuler, Director of Information Services & Library, (845) 677-7600 x164.
