Finding us
The Cary Institute is located in northern Dutchess County, New York, approximately 70 miles north of New York City and more or less the same distance south of Albany. The Plant Science Building, Auditorium, and Gifford House are on Sharon Turnpike, also known as Route 44.
Please note: because of a change in road designation, some online maps and GPS devices provide incorrect directions when inputting the street address (2801 Sharon Turnpike/Route 44) .

From the North or South:
Take the Taconic State Parkway ( north or south) to the Millbrook/Poughkeepsie exit. Merge onto US- 44 East and follow for 2 miles. Bear left on US-44 E/Sharon Turnpike. Proceed .3 miles. The Cary Institute's Main Campus is on the left.
From the West:
Take NY State Thruway to Newburgh exit (Exit 17). Follow signs to Rt. 84 East. Go east across Hudson River (toll bridge). Take Taconic Parkway North to Rt. 44 Millbrook/Poughkeepsie exit (approximately 18 miles). Merge onto US- 44 East and follow for 2 miles. Bear left on US-44 E/Sharon Turnpike. Proceed .3 miles. The Cary Institute's Main Campus is on the left.
From Connecticut and East:
Take Route 343 West until you reach Amenia. Continue on US- 44 West for 11.3 miles. The Cary Institute's Main Campus is on the right.
