Nature Photography Walk (with focus on birds and other wildlife)

Register

Event full. Waitlist only.

Join us for a summer solstice photography walk with wildlife photographer, ornithologist, and ecologist Dr. Loren Merrill. Loren will offer tips and insights into nature photography's technical and conceptual aspects as we walk the Cary grounds.

Many of the summer resident birds will be in the midst of breeding activity, and we should have opportunities to capture images of birds singing and possibly carrying food back to their nests. Pollinators will be busy collecting nectar at the abundant wildflowers, offering the chance to work with small, fast-moving targets. And there is always the possibility of seeing some of Cary's mammals--white-tailed deer, American black bear, red squirrel, muskrat, North American river otter, American mink, red fox, raccoon, and bobcat, among others. All are possible, although many are quite secretive and rarely seen.

Please note: This is a photography event - bring your preferred camera or other photo equipment to use during the walk. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear.

Suitable for ages 13+. Space is limited, and registration is required.

*Please note: As only 12 slots are being offered, there is a small fee for this event to reduce no-shows. If this fee is a burden, please drop a note to quillenl@caryinstitute.org.
