Marine scientist and deepwater expert Samantha Joye discusses the after effects of the BP Deepwater Horizon blowout, which resulted in millions of barrels of oil polluting the Gulf. Only a fraction of the spill was recovered.
Following the disaster, Joye and her team were the first to detect massive underwater plumes of oil and natural gas. Impacts to ocean animals, post-spill recovery, and the need for improved oil-removal technologies will be discussed.
