Sights & Sounds of Spring Evening Walk

Register

On Sunday, April 26 from 6 – 8 pm ET, Cary Institute wildlife biologist Mike Fargione and educator Ashley Alred will lead an evening hike exploring the sights and sounds of spring on our Millbrook, NY campus. Discover how resident plants, amphibians, birds, and mammals adapt to the change from winter to spring.

We will walk around the property visiting different habitats to look at how plants and animals adjust to the changing seasons. Our path will include stops in forests, fields, and along the creek to see what signs of spring we can find. If conditions are right, we may be treated to a frog chorus or a breeding display by an American Woodcock.

Please dress for the weather, wear appropriate hiking footwear, and, if you have them, bring a flashlight and binoculars. Hiking will be at an easy to moderate level of difficulty. We will sometimes walk off-trail through variable, uneven, and unpaved terrain, so a walking stick or ski pole may be helpful.

This family-friendly event is free and open to all, but space is limited. Eventbrite registration is required.
