John Drake is a Regents’ professor at the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia. He also serves as the founding director of the Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases and is the founding director of the Global Infectious Disease Intelligence Consortium at the university. Drake was previously a distinguished research professor and the associate dean for academic affairs at the Odum School. His many research interests include population dynamics, epidemiology, and computational ecology.
Drake received his BA in biology from Covenant College and both his MA in history and philosophy of science and his PhD in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis in Santa Barbara, CA, and has been at the University of Georgia since 2006. In 2012, John was Leverhulme visiting professor in the Department of Zoology at Oxford University. He has shared his expertise through past service on the boards of the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, Highlands Biological Station, and University of Georgia River Basin Center.
