Rubén Kraiem is a senior counsel in the corporate group at Covington & Burling LLP, where he was a partner from 2004 to 2019. His legal practice at Covington focused on Latin America, advising clients with business interests there, and also on sustainability and carbon markets.
Mr. Kraiem is an honorary trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council, having actively served on its board for 15 years. He has been a Board Vice-Chair at Resources for the Future and served also on the Boards of Pure Earth, the Institute for Policy Integrity and the Coalition for Rainforest Nations Secretariat.
Before joining Covington, Mr. Kraiem was a partner at the Paul Weiss law firm in New York. In 2002–2003, he was a distinguished scholar in residence at New York University Law School and in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 he was an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School, where he co-taught a class on climate change law and policy. He holds a BA summa cum laude in philosophy from Yale University, a JD cum laude from Harvard Law School and an MA from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
